My Challenge... a layout

Hi!  Today I am popping in to share a layout I've created using a picture of my son and I.  Lately I have not been doing as much journaling on my layouts, but this layout is all about my journaling and I took a creative initiative with how I wrote the journaling partly on my designer paper and then popped some of it up on a journal die cut.  I really love the way this turned out, and the journaling is more like a letter to my son that I think he will enjoy re-reading when he gets older.  So without further adieu I present to you My Challenge...

You, Me, & the Sea...

Hiya!  I'm here today and on the Mint Owl Studio Blog sharing this sweet little distressed card using the new Beach Babes Stamp Set...

To create this card I started by masking off a ripped strip of post it note to separate my sky from my sea... I then used distress inks in the following colors: Antique Linen, Victorian Velvet, Seedless Preserves, Chipped Sapphire, and Black Soot for the sky.  I then removed the masking and used distress inks in Tumbled Glass, Broken China, and Salty Ocean.  The little boats were stamped and colored on separate card stock before being trimmed and popped up with foam adhesive.  The sentiment is from the same stamp set and was stamped with Versafine in Onyx Black.  Finally, I finished it all off with some "gold stars" using a gold gel pen.

CAS-ual FRIDAYS/ Imagine Crafts Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to old and new visitors!  I am so excited to have you stop by my blog today for this amazing hop!!!  Hasn't the inspiration just been amazing?!

Now if you happened to stumble here with my blog then make sure you check out below where the hop starts so you don't miss a thing (or your chance to win the goodies). I am sharing several projects with you today, as I was having so much fun mixing products from these two awesome companies…

To create this set of cards I used the Kaleidacolor ink pads in Baby Powder and Pastel, as well as the Calm and Loving Stamp Set and Lovely Links die set from CAS-ual Fridays Stamps. The two white cards were made essentially the same way, just one uses the bolder Pastel colors. I then used the hearts that came out from the border dies and used them as embellishments on the cards. For the kraft card I used White pigment ink first and let that dry before going over the hearts with the Baby Powder Kaleidacolor Ink pad. When working with kraft and colored ink layering your card with white ink first will help the colors pop, rather than blend into the card stock.

This next card was created while I was just playing around with the ink pads…

To create this card I had used the Kaleidacolor Pastel Ink pad and swiped it across a clear stamping block I had. I then gave it a little spritz of water and stamped the block onto a white panel. I liked the fun design in created and decided to just go with it! I then stamped and die cut the flower from the Mon Ami Stamp Set and matching die set with Memento ink in Tuxedo Black. I was torn between coloring the flower in with matching colors, but in the end I decided I like the pop of the black and white against all of those bright colors ( I did add some Wink of Stella for a little sparkle though!). I then stamped my sentiment with Versafine Ink in Onyx Black. I trimmed the panel slightly smaller than the card front and added a strip of black and white stripped paper under it.

Thanks so much for stopping by and checking out my projects! To start at the beginning go to the Imagine Crafts Blog.  You can also find the link on the CAS-ual Fridays Blog.

If you are hopping along then you need to stop by the amazing Terre Fry next!!!

Don't forget to leave comments for your chance to win 1 of 2 sets of goodies!!! yay!!! Good luck!

Forget Your Mistakes...

Hello and Happy Friday!!!! Woo hoo!!!!  It has been another busy week in our household as baseball is still going on, it's tournament time.  But that's ok, I know one day I will have quiet days when school starts again.  Any who, today I am sharing two more cards for a few challenges.  This first one is a rainbow delight based on the Pretty Pink Posh Rainbow Challenge and the MFT Create Camp Delightful Die cutting...

To create this card I used Yana's card from the Pretty Pink Posh Challenge for my inspiration and then I used the MFT edger dies with some distress ink in the colors of the rainbow.  I then used the Whimsical Wishes Stamp set to stamp on some vellum that I turned into a shaker card with some Pretty Pink Posh Clear Sequins in various sizes and the MFT Mini Scallop Oval Die-namics.

I am also going to link this up to the Simon Says Stamp: Wed. Challenge Add some Shimmer

A Coastal Layout

Hello beautiful and wonderful crafty friends!!!  Today I am here and on the DCWV Blog sharing a layout I've created with the newly released Coastal Stack, available at your local A.C. Moore store.

This stack has gorgeous pearl foil through out it as well as some papers that have a material feel to them like the dark blue background I have on my layout.  It also has a mermaid designed paper just like the shell paper seen above, and you better believe you'll be seeing that baby on a project soon! hehehe!

Isn't it so fun and groovy?!  I just love the design of them.  To create my card I stamped each shoe right next to each other and used Copics to color them in.  Next I colored the bottom half with a teal(ish) color and added my sentiment from the New Beginning Stamp Set.  I finished it with a mix of patterned paper strips and a bow.

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today!  Make sure you stop by the STAMP-lorations Blog for more inspiration and a chance to win some stamps for yourself!

Swimming by... literally...

It's me again, yay!!!!  I'm here today with... wait for it.... another slider card bwahahahaha!  I couldn't help myself!  When I saw the adorable Best FinFriends set just released by Mint Owl Studio it screamed slider to me... so you see?  I had to do it!

See?  She needed to swim I tell ya!  To create this card I started by die cutting my pattern paper and adding the slider element in the middle.  Then I stamped all of my images onto Copic paper and colored them all in.  Then I trimmed around the images leaving some white space around each of them.  I then stamped and die cut my sentiment.  Finally, I created my slider aspect with double foam adhesive and a penny.  Once I had the Mermaid on I just went about adding the other elements all around her.  I then finished it all off with some sequins ( by the way all sequins in the Mint Owl Shop are $1.50! ).

Sensational Slider Card - MFT Camp

Hello! It's Tuesday, and I swear the days of summer are just flying by me!  I feel like I can't catch my breath yet, anyone else felling this? Any who, I played along with the Sensational Slider Camp Create Challenge by My Favorite Things... ( I'm tell you I'm addicted!!!)

I created this card using the Birthday Bears Stamp Set.  I first stamped all of the images on separate card stock and colored them in with Copic Markers.  I then fussy cut them and went over the edges with a black marker and set them to the side.  I then looked in my scrap bin and grabbed random paper (which all happened to be from DCWV) that I thought would work perfectly with my party scene.  I also grabbed this circle die cut out of my scrap box and thought it would be perfect to do my slider on it.  (My slider is made with a die from the stitched tags set by MFT!)  I layered everything together, layered the slider area with double foam adhesive and a penny to put it all together.  I then finished it off with some colored gems.

MFT Camp Create Day 2

Hiya!  I am back today with another card for the My Favorite Things Camp Create Day 2: Wonderful Watercolor...

To create this card I started by stamping and heat embossing the Geometric Grid Background Stamp with clear embossing powder onto watercolor paper.  I then used my Gansai Tambi Watercolors and randomly added yellow, orange and red colors to the paper with a wet on wet technique.  While this was drying I die cut my tag and stamped my cupcakes from the Sweet Birthday Wishes Stamp Set with Grout Gray Hybrid Ink and used the no line watercoloring technique to color the images in. I then stamped my sentiment in a bold orange color to tie in with the background.  I pulled the blues from the stand of the cupcakes and used it as a background panel for my watercolored panel.  I layered it all together and used twine for the tag and sequins on the card!

MFT - Glitzy Glitter Challenge and Sketch Challenge

Hello, hello!!!!  Today I am sharing a card I've created for two of the My Favorite Things Challenges.  Right now they've been having a fun week of Camp's, inspiring us and sharing new tips and tricks with various techniques.  The very first day was about glitter, and I just love my glitz and shine, so of course I'm playing along...

This card is the complete opposite of yesterdays, no? hehehe!  Not sure where to really start with this challenge I then used the MFT Sketch Challenge: #285 as my starting point:

I then used the My Favorite Things LJD Together Forever Stamp Set and Die-namics Bold Greenery Dies.

Rainbow Happy...

Hello!!!  I am having fun today with rainbows!  There are so many awesome challenges going on right now with rainbows that I could not resist!  (Not that I would resist anyway, because I've loved rainbows since I was a little girl... )

So I challenged my inner Taheera Atachia and created this...

This card sort of just came together on its own.  At first I had cut strips of each color of the rainbow from DCWV glitter paper.  I was planning on lining them up and doing something with the happy die.  As I was holding the strips I began playing with different ways the strips could lay and that's when I began laying them diagonally.  But how was I going to get this to lay on a card?  That's when I decided the purple color should be the anchor and go across the card straight, allowing the other colors to fan out behind it.  As I wanted the colors to pop on the cardbase I chose to use black, and I love it!  I then added a little more shine with clear sequins from Pretty Pink Posh to draw the eyes across the card.

I am entering this into the newest Winnie & Walter Gossip Column with Taheerah Atchia: Spectrum (Seriously this is an amazing read!  I learned so much!)

And also into the Pretty Pink Posh: Rainbow Challenge by Yana's card and the strips she used going down her card, only mine go diagonally instead.

And finally into the Virgina's View Challenge: All About Colors

Thanks so much for stopping by today and have a wonderful Saturday!!!

Mint Owl Studio Release Day!!!

* If you are looking for my Callin' All Sistah's Hop Click Here Thank you!!!

Now it's time to share a card I've created with the newly ( and now available!!! ) released Beach Babes Stamp Set...

This little scene was so fun to create, and relaxing for me to color in too!  I simple started by stamping the two little characters in the middle of my panel.  I then just went about stamping various images from the set around them.  Before I started coloring I knew I wanted to some waves in the picture, so I opted to diecut some waves and put them down in the left corner.  I then used them as a guide for where to have my sand coloring stop and for shading purposes.  All of this was colored using my Copic® Markers. ( I must add that the sun comes from an older set called Sunny Days )

Callin' All Sistahs Blog Hop Time!!!

Hello!  And welcome to June's Callin' All Sistahs Hop, where we hop along to raise awareness and to remind all of you beautiful women out there to perform your monthly breast examination.  It's so easy to do, but so easy to forget to take the time and do it.  So here we are hoping along to remind you and to inspire you at the same time.  It is also important to note that 50% of the profits from Michele Gross' (owner of CAS-ual Fridays Stamps) special Calling All Sistahs Collection are donated to Nationalbreastcancer.org

Now onto my creation for today's hop...

Fun don't you think?  I thought these would be cute and fun bookmarks to give out to friends and or family members as a reminder for them every time they opened a book or whatever they are currently reading.  Plus I just love pink and gold together!  To create these bookmarks I started with strips of pink DCWV double sided card stock measuring 2" x 6".  I then partially die cut the top of the bookmarks with a heart die to mimic the look of cleavage hehehe!  Next, I stamped and embossed my sentiments from the Callin' All Sistahs Stamp Set. Finally I punched holes in the tops of the bookmarks and tied white lace ribbon through it, reminding me of the lace you often find on bras.

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog on this hop!  Here is a complete list of participants, the more you comment on the better your chances are for winning some free stamps for yourself!  Full details found on the CAS-ual Friday's Blog...

And that's not all!!!  I also have a code for you to use to save when you go to pick up your new goodies from CAS-ual Fridays...

STAMPlorations Mid Month Reminder

Hello!  Today you will find lots of inspiration for the STAMPlorations June C(lean)A(nd)S(simple) Challenge.  Every month there is a new CAS Challenge on the STAMPlorations Blog  with Anything Goes and an optional color twist.  This month the twist was blue, and here is what I've created...

To create this card I started with a negative cut I already had in my scrap pile, which was a piece of white card stock with a circle cut out of the middle.  I then used the Just Squares Stencil and Distress Ink in Broken China and Tumbled Glass.  Next I stamped the stem from the Blooming Buds set onto the card base.  The leaves and flower images were stamped onto Neenah White Card Stock, colored with Copic® Markers (YG17, YG25, RV14, RV25, RV69), and trimmed out.  I did go over the edges with my black Memento Marker too.  Next I adhered the negative cut over the stem image on the cardbase.  The sentiment was stamped with a matching blue ink on the bottom right corner.  I then popped up my flower and image with foam adhesive, and added the leaves with Tombow Mono Glue.  I then finished it all off with Wink of Stella in Clear.

Sneaky Peeky Time with Mint Owl Studio!!!!

Hello and Happy Sneak Peek Day!!!!!  Today I have a fun watercolor card to share with you that features the soon to be released Sweet Treats Stamp Set... ( Take a peek of it on the Mint Owl Studio Blog!)

To create this card I used the two cupcake images in this set, lots of masking, and my trusty MISTI tool.  I started by stamping from the bottom of my panel up.  I then went back in with my Distress Markers and water brush to add a whimsical touch of colors.  The icing needed a little shimmer so I used my new Gansai Tambi Stary Colors for that.  I then stamped my sentiment in the upper right corner with Versafine Ink and added a fun and cheery background in yellow.  One of the things I love about the Mint Owl Studio Stamps are the cute sentiments that always play off of the images in the sets!

I am linking this card up to the Virginia's View Challenge: All Things Color

Thanks so much for stopping by today and be on the look out for the full release this month!
