Mini Lantern Banner Boho Style

Hi!  Today you will find me here and on the DCWV blog sharing a fun project that will be perfect for those end of summer parties or just for some colorful home decor...  I will show you how to re-create this fun mini lantern banner using the newly released Boho Stack available at your local A.C. Moore Stores...

Supply List:
DCWV 12” x 12” Boho Stack
Paper trimmer
Scissors
Double-sided Adhesive/glue
Twine/Ribbon

Instructions:
1. Trim selected patterned paper from Boho Stack into 6” x 3” strips.
2. Fold strip in half long ways and trim slits from the middle fold up towards to top. (Leave at least 1” at top )
3. Unfold cut strip and bring the ends together to form a cylinder. Use double-sided adhesive or glue to hold the sides together.
4. Trim a 1/2” x 4 1/2” strip and add adhesive/glue to either end of this strip to the top inside of your lanterns. This will create a handle.

5. Tie paper lanterns with twine or ribbon to create banner.

Aren't the patterns in this stack so chic?!  LOVE them!  Plus that touch of gold foiling is perfect!

Thanks so much for stopping by today and Happy Crafting!

Love is in the Air... And on My Walls!

Hello!  Today I am sharing a step by step tutorial with photos on the DCWV blog on a super cute Valentine's Banner I've created!

I've created this banner using the DIY Project Stack®: Banners, the DIY Paperie mini cones kit, and the Shimmer Premium Stack. I also chose to add some bling with some DCWV Mini Adhesive Mirrors: Hearts and Dazzling Resin Jewel Self Adhesive Sheet in Pink.

I've also created a step by step tutorial with some photos so you can recreate this banner for your home, school, or party:
  1. Start by cutting out your selected pennants and adding a strip of Dazzling Resin Jewel Self Adhesive Sheet to the top of each one.

  1. You will then use twine or string and start to add your pennants by first punching a hole on each side of each one and tying them on. It was during this step that I folded a few mini cones in half. (Four, one on each side of the first and last pennant.)

  1. Next you will start creating your rosettes by trimming the strips provided in the DIY Banners Stack, score the strips at every 1/2”, and fold back and forth until you have 4 small “fanned” strips as shown in the photo below. You will then start gluing (hot glue works wonders for this step!) the strips together to create one long strip, also seen in the photo.

  1. Glue the ends of your strip together to create a circle.

  1. Using a paper punch, die, cutting machine, or hand cut 4 circles to be the backing for the rosettes. You will then push your scored circle down and glue to the back circle you've just created as seen below.

  1. Die cut, hand cut or use a cutting machine to create various sized hearts for embellishments and your letters for the banner. Add the letters together (the Xyron® Sticker Maker is fabulous for this!) and then to the rosettes with hot glue.

  1. Now you can add your lettered rosettes, hearts and other embellishments to your pennants and hang your banner for all to enjoy!

DCWV / Faber-Castell Blog Hop Week!!!

Hello!  Welcome to Day #2 of the DCWV/Faber-Castell Blog Hop Week!  Yay!!!  You know what that means? Inspiration and Giveaways, woot woot!!! If you've stumbled upon my blog make sure you start at the DCWV Blog so you can see all of the inspiration, as well as how you can get entered for the giveaways!  By the way if you are wanting to know the prizes DCWV will have 3 giveaways worth $50 each!!! woot woot!!!  And Faber-Castell will be giving away a $50 prize pack as well! woo hoo!!!!

Now onto my project for this hop... I've created a paper tassel banner.  This is very similar to the tissue tassels, if you have ever seen them, and I also made a step by step tutorial on how to make these tassels yourself.  DCWV has a wonderful stack called Vintage Essentials made of wonderful collage/tissue type cardstock so it is really versatile...

First, I hung this up on my China Cabinet so you could see it in all it's glory... but I'll show you add the end of the post where it finally found a home among my Christmas decorations.  Let me share the tutorial before showing that...

1. cover each 12 x 12 with various Gellatos (colors I've used: Snow Cone, Red Cherry, Butterscotch Carmel, Metallic Mint)

2. Fold over in half and then fold over again until it looks folded like mine above.  Then with scissor make straight cuts from the bottom towards the edge leaving about 1.5" at the top.  Also make sure not to cut any of the folds, just cut as close as you can.

3. Open it all up and it should look like the photo above if cut correctly.

4.  start at one end and begin rolling the paper up.  Go slowly so that the fringes don't get caught on one another and rip.

5.  Next I twisted the center and folded over.  To keep the circle top I used some of the DCWV Adhesive Jeweled sheet trimmed and wrapped around as shown.

Here is a group of them in the various colors before I strung them up.

I also created circles to go in between the tassels that I wrote various words on that remind me of Christmas.  White I don't have a tutorial on these I can tell you have I made them...

I started by painting a heavy weight white cardstock with Faber-Castell Chalkboard paint and letting it dry.  This product goes on so smoothly, gives great coverage, and drys fast! love it!  I then wrote my words using PITT artist pen in Silver.  To give it a chalkboard look I went over it with the Snow Cone Gellato and smudged it with my finger.  I then adhered these circles to punched out circles from the Holiday Glitzy Glitter Stack.

And here is where I finally hung my tassle banner...

Doesn't it look perfect here?  I love it!  Thanks for stopping by and I hope I've inspired you, or maybe you've picked up some new techniques, tips or tricks!  Make sure you stop by the DCWV blog for full blog hop details and don't forget about the giveaways!!!

Happy Crafting!
