Watercolor Coloring Books Make For Easy Cards!

Hi!  Today I'm popping in to share a fun and totally chic flamingo that I've watercolored from my ADORNit Art Play Coloring Book called Fancy Flamingo...

I just love how easy this was to put together on a cardbase.  I also love that the coloring books by ADORNit are on watercolor paper making it super easy to color and add a little water to watch the colors spread.  I've also used the super cute Birds of a Feather Patterned paper by ADORNit... this collection is so fun and screams summer!

Now for my project for today's hop...

To create this card I used a fun mix of STAMPlorations newest products and various patterned papers.  I started by running my Spring Flower Layering Dies and Hello Sunshine Phrase Die through my die cutter, and then layered them together.  Since my sentiment was on busy paper I used a black thin pen to outline parts of the letters to help it stand out.  The butterfly was stamped from the Flutter Zen Row Stamp Set onto separate cardstock where it was colored before being cut out.  I adhered this to my flower and added sequins and twine to finish my card off.

For a full list of blog hop participants please head over to the STAMPlorations Blog.

MarkerPOP Watercolor Challenge and Giveaways

Happy Sunday!  I hope you are having a nice weekend so far.. our plans have changed due to the weather, but that didn't stop us from having fun :)  Anywho, today I'm popping in to share my take on the new MarkerPOP Challenge!  These challenges are posted bi-weekly, and this month we are focusing on watercolors.  So for this challenge we are asking you to create a floral watercolor project.  Here is my take on the challenge...

Watercoloring is one of my favorite mediums for adding color right now, so I had a blast creating this card.  It was so relaxing too!  First, I started by stamping my flower images onto watercolor cardstock with Versafine Ink.  I then hit the ink with clear embossing powder and a heat gun just to make sure everything was dry and ready for me to add my watercolors.  I should also mention that I stamped and embossed the largest flower onto a separate sheet of watercolor cardstock.  I then went in with my base pink layer and after each layer would dry I would add my next.  To finish the design off I used my Gansai Tambi Starry Colors Collection to add a shimmery shading around all of it.  Once everything was dry I popped the largest flower up with foam adhesive and added sequins to finish.

And here is a look at the inspiration photo for this challenge:

I hope you will play along as there are some awesome prizes up for grabs!  Also, there are other watercolor giveaways happening on the blog, so make sure you scroll through to get entered for those!

Sneak Peek for Crafters Companion on HSN May 9th

Hello, hello!  I'm super excited to share a sneak peek at a card I've created with the new Centre Circle Die Set by Crafters Companion that will be available on May 9th on HSN!!! eeeekkk!!!  Just take a peek at what it can do...

The intricacies of this new die set are incredible, and believe it or not these cards come together quite easily!  I also LOVE it on the Silvery Luxury Cardstock... this pack will also be available for purchase on May 9th and it includes several sheets of shiny metal, satin metal, and glitter.  The Gemini Machine cuts everything with one pass, as well as creates score lines at the same time.  The sentiment on this specific card comes with the die set, but there will be other interchangeable sentiments available for purchase that day too.

CAS-ual Fridays Scrapbook Layout

Hi!  Today I am up on the CAS-ual Fridays Stamp Blog, and I'm sharing a Mixed Media of sorts Layout using the new Rad 2 Stamp Set...

To create this layout I first laid my photos where I wanted them and used a pencil to trace around them.  Next, I started generationally stamping sentiments from the Rad 2 Stamp Set. I made sure to over lap some of the sentiments and kept them going in a diagonal direction to draw the eyes in towards my photos.  Once all of the stamping was done I used a mix of misters and Distress Stain to add fun splashes.  I also added a few embellishment stickers and washi tape.  I love how quickly this came together, and how much it captures my son's spirit.

And if you haven't had a chance to get your hands on some of the new CAS-ual Friday Stamp Sets then make sure you use my code to get 15% off your total purchase!

Simple Colored Binder Divider

Hi!  Today I am popping in to share this sweet and super simple Monthly Binder Divider using some amazing ADORNit products including the Calendar Girls Art Play Coloring Book and Patterned Papers from the Blender Basics Collection...

Of course this cutie is being stored in my Calendar Girls Planner... LOVE IT!

This panel was colored with basic colored pencils.  While these Coloring book pages are created on Watercolor Paper, it doesn't mean you can't use other mediums.  I think the colored pencils give it almost a classic children's book look.

MarkerPOP Challenge: Watercoloring Animals/People

Honey, I'm homeeeee!!!  Hi!  Today I'm popping in to share a fun watercolor card that I've created based on the newest MarkerPOP Challenge!  You are going to want to join us as there are some awesome giveaways going on, as well as some incredible inspiration all month long featuring watercoloring!!!  This time we are challenging you to watercolor animals or people...

And here is what I've created...

This card is featuring the Gerda Steiner Designs Koalafied Stamp Set.  This is a new to MarkerPOP Stamp Company, and they have some super cute critter sets!  I used my Distress Markers this time for watercoloring the critters and tree and then for my background I have used my Gansai Tambi Watercolor Set.  This set is a must have in my book, and the best thing is that it comes in several different sizes so you can buy to fit your needs!

For my card I have also used a mix of water on water technique and the dry to wet technique.  I love them both for various reasons.  The wet on wet is great for covering larger spaces quickly as well as for areas that you are going to layer color onto color.  The dry to wet technique is best for adding fine details, or for having more control over the watercolors themselves.

Now it's your turn!  Make sure you head over to the blog for full details, more inspiration, and giveaway goodness!

Totally Sweet Birthday with CAS-ual Fridays Stamps

Hi!  Did you have a nice weekend? My youngest was sick this weekend, so it mainly consisted of cuddles with her and my son's karate testing, but I did get some crafting in with some of the new CAS-ual Fridays Stamps.  Speaking of new stamps, did you see them all and enjoy our blog hop this weekend?  Talk about awesome inspiration!  Check out the hop here!  Today I am back up on the CAS-ual Fridays Stamps Blog sharing this fun masculine/teen card...

To create this card I started by coloring in the large diamond border and smaller diamond border from the Modern Petals set with my Tombow Markers.  I then stamped the sentiments from the Rad Stamp Set with Versafine Ink.  Next I spritzed the bottom half of the card with water and dried the excess with a paper towel.  For a more cohesive look I added splashes of matching ink colors over the entire front panel.  I then adhered this to some black and white patterned paper, and used a metal embellishment and some enamel dots.

See some new goodies you just have to have?  Use this code to save 15%:
