Trying my Hand Again

Hello again!
I'm not really sure why this time of year has me itching for posting on my blog again, but it seems to be a thing for the past couple of years.  I feel so sad to think that this blog has been so quiet for so long.  For so many years this blog was like another baby to me, in which I poured my crafty soul out to the world.  I had hit such an all time crafting high over a year and a half ago, but then suddenly it all started to become overbearing.  Crafting became more like a second job, and with working full time outside of the house, running my two very active children to all of their activities, coaching competition cheer for the first time, I no longer had any me time... crafting for fun was not... well... fun.  Then the pandemic hit, and I took a bit of a seat to crafting and sharing.  I still crafted occasionally, but not anything like I had in the past.  Nothing came naturally anymore, and so I was at a loss with my art.  I focused more on my family, more on myself, more on moving and building a new house.
Speaking of new house, I now have a dedicated craft space!  I am oh so lucky!  I will share pictures soon, as it is still a work in progress and I still wish to purchase a few more things before I share the whole space.  But I LOVE IT!  It has big beautiful windows, and two smaller windows on the side. ( I thrive on windows and sun )  And I am slowly dipping my toes back into the crafty blog world again.  Posts will not be as often as they once were, but I'm hoping to get back into the routine of sharing my art with all of you, and being inspired by your artwork as well!  I've still visited many crafting sites, while taking my break and left my comments, but I'm excited to be inspired by other blogs again and join in challenges and more!  I'm also hoping to get back into my original paper crafting love of scrapbook pages.  I miss having those sweet memories to flip through, and for my children to look through and ask questions or share stories.
Alas, I've probably shared more information than you might have been expecting when you stumbled upon this page, but I hope you will take a moment to see the card I've created as a jumping point back into the papercrafting world.

I found my inspiration from the Altenew April 2021 Inspiration Challenge.

The colors were not colors I would typically think to put together, but I really wanted to try putting them together.  To create my card I used a fun mix of Altenew products including:
Altenew Aztec Motif Stencil
Altenew Precious Moments
Altenew Striped Florals

I really like when crafters use tone on tone, especially with colored cardstock.  Again, this is something I admire of others, but seldom try myself so I decided to give it a go.  Since I was going to use colored cardstock for my background I chose to stamp my images onto colored cardstock as well.  The great thing about stamping on colored cardstock, especially with floral images is that half the coloring is done for you! ha!  I then used my Spectrum Noir Classique Alcohol Markers to add more depth to the stamped images.  Please keep in mind it has been quite sometime since I've colored in stamped images, and so my shading is not quite as accurate as one would hope, but I was just proud of myself for following through with my original idea.  Never missing a chance to add sparkle whenever possible I used my Spectrum Noir Sparkle Pen in Crystal Clear to color over my flowers, and oh how I love that pen!  Once I heat embossed my sentiment onto black cardstock I began layering my elements up from the stenciled background, flowers and leaves, sentiment, and a final touch with a mix of flat back pearls and rhinestones.

I am also linking this card up to the Shopping Our Stash: Plant Life Challenge

Thank you so much for taking the time to visit my blog, and I do hope you'll come back!  Next time I promise not to have such a long winded opening to my post lol.
Have a great rest of your day, and Happy Crafting!

Spring Fling with Stamplorations and Daily Prizes!!!

Hello!  I am so excited to get to take part in the Stamplorations Spring Fling Event!!!  This event is full of inspiration, fun, and daily giveaways... 12 WHOLE DAYS!!!  For my card today I've used the same products to create two very different looks...

(Supplies Used: STAMPlorations Sketched: Tulips Stamp Set (Retired), CUTplorations: Hello Sunshine and Art Edges)  Tip: Use Framed Tulips Stamp Set in place of the Tulips I've used.

For the first card I stamped my flowers onto a white panel and colored them in.  Next I die cut the one edge and diecut my sentiment from pink cardstock.  I then adhered this panel to yellow cardstock and finished it off with a few flat back rhinestones.  After looking at my scrap from my die cut sentiment I came up with the idea to make a second card featuring the negative of my cut as the center of my card.  I then stamped the same image in the lower right corner, but this time I found no need to color the flowers in.  I adhered this to yellow cardstock and finally onto blue patterned paper.  I added a few colorful sequins and viola!  Two cards with very little supplies and effort!  And for a working mom like me, it's perfect.

Make sure you head over to the STAMPlorations blog for more inspiration, giveaway details and fun!

Happy Crafting and Thanks for stopping by!!!

Happy Barkday!

Hi friends!  I'm back again with a just for fun card this week.  I've been dying to join in a few of the MFT Challenges that they run on their blog, and I finally had some time to play around...

This card was based on the MFT Color Challenge...

To create my card I used the colors from the challenge to color my images from the Little Buddies set in ( the animals were based on my own two furry critters, but the rest of the colors match ).  I then cute the images out, added a hat from the Birthday Bears Set.  I then adhered my images onto a few cuts from one of by MFT Blueprint die sets.  Complete with some MFT plaid paper.  Throw on a few confetti sequins and bam!  Card complete and perfect for a boy like my son.

Thanks so much for stopping by today and Happy Crafting!

Guest Designing on Gerda Steiner

I am so very honored to be Guest Designing here with Gerda Steiner Designs!  I can never tell you enough just how much I LOVE the adorable critter stamps that can be found in the store, and the one I'm working with today (Turtley Great) is no different!

To create this card I started by stamping my turtle and sentiment with Versafine ink onto watercolor cardstock.  Next, I spritzed some colors onto a piece of plastic, I like to keep packaging from stamp sets specifically for this technique. I then laid my cardstock stamped side down onto the ink and smooshed it in.  I would let it dry before smooshing the colors again.  I still wanted my turtle to have some set green so once it was all dry I went over the turtle with my Spectrum Noir markers.  I then adhered my panel onto various strips of patterned paper and finished it with a few glitter enamel dots.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I hope I've inspired you to maybe try a new technique or add coloring to your smooshing :).  And don't forget to check out the new sets coming to the store, I already have my eyes on the cute new ghosts!

Happy Crafting!

Bushy Tailed and In LOVE - CAS-ual Friday Stamps Release Day 3

Have you enjoyed all of the new inspiration and new goodies CAS-ual Friday Stamps has had to offer this month?  It has been an awesome few days and we still have one more to go tomorrow!  Today we are sharing our creations using the new Bushy Tailed Stamp Set and matching die set, and boy is it cute!  I love the sweet images and how you can mix and match the sentiments on the banner.  Take a peek at what I've created...

To create my shaped card I started by diecutting foil red cardstock into a heart shape.  Now in order for this card to stand up it has to lay on it's side, but I like it that way and the cute little raccoon keeps it from look lopsided.  To color my critter in I used various Spectrum Noir Markers before die-cutting him and my banner.  I used a few circles from my stash to ground him and finished the card off with rhinestones...

And remember these cuties are available now in the shop, so use my discount code to save!!!

Oh and head over to the CAS-ual Friday Stamps Blog for more inspiration and a chance to win a $50 gc!!!
Happy Shopping/Crafting!

Turtley Great with Gerda Steiner Designs

I'm so excited to be back on the Gerda Steiner Designs blog sharing a sweet shaker card with all of you that uses the Turtley Great Stamp Set.  I know you have all been introduced to these adorable new guys, and now it's my turn to show you just how fun this set can be...

To create this card I started by diecutting and adding the shaker element to the cardbase.  I then stamped my sentiment along one of the diagonals.  The turtle and snail were stamped and colored on separate cardstock with Spectrum Noir Markers.  I then cut them out and added them to the front of my card.  A few rhinestones later and my card was complete!

Such an easy card to create, and one that will wow the recipient!  Win win!

Let's Shell-ebrate!

Hello!!!  It's Lisa here today and I'm still in a party mood here after the celebrating the 4th, so I mixed that with the heat we've been experiencing in Ohio and came up with this cutie...

And all of this came from one little mini stamp set called Shell-ebration and with their Brush Waves Stencil! To create my card I started by going over my stencil with various Distress Oxide Inks.  While the stencil was still in place I spritzed it with Distress Resist Spray ( I LOVE how shiny this made my background, and it really added to the water look).  I removed the stencil and covered the background with more distress inks to complete my ocean water.  I finished the panel by diecutting it with a postage die from Winnie and Walter Stamps.

I then stamped and colored the turtles, hat, and presents on separate cardstock and cut it all out.  The sentiment was stamped onto a light blue cardstock with a dark blue ink to blend in with my stenciled background.  I finished the card off by adhering everything together and finally adding that panel onto some patterned paper.  ( I also added a few small sequins for a bubble effect )

Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you have a fantastic weekend!
