Crafter's Companion on HSN JULY 11th!!!

Hello! It is almost the weekend, and it's going to be a busy but fun one here in my household. Lots of baseball, family time, and checking out the Pete Rose Statue my Dad's company played a big part in making (with Pete Rose of course hehe!)... Any who, today I'm popping in to share some more fun news, if you haven't seen it already, that Crafter's Companion is coming back to HSN on July 11th! YAY!!!  And of course they are bringing another phenomenal day full of amazing, fun, and innovative new products! Here is a peek at something I've been creating with these new goodies...

This Mixed Media piece was created with the new Sheena Douglas Time Traveler Dies and Stamps.  I love all of the intricacy in the stamps, and the facts there are matching dies that also leave embossed details is just the icing on the cake if you ask me!

Make sure you join the release party of FB by clicking here.  This will get you set up for inspiration, peeks, and giveaways!  Plus you'll be a part of an all day Facebook party on July 11th.

You can also see more of the products by going here.

Enjoy and Happy Crafting!

Crafters Companion on HSN May 9th!!!

Hello, hello!  It's the end of the week and we are getting even closer to the new Crafters Companion HSN release!!! yay!!!  Today I'm popping in with a mixed media piece that I've created with some of the new Sheena Douglas Create a Flower Stencils and Dies...

For the background I've used a mix of the Create a Flower Stencils: Dissolving planets (with spray mist) and Slightly Barbed (with embossing paste).  The dies are actually the positive cuts from the Create a Flower Dies: Going in Spirals and Cool Corrosion.  Finally I added some beads for more texture and a sentiment from the Foil Transfers Kit that is already available on HSN.  This foil transfer kit is amazing and requires no heat! woot woot!

All of this and more will be available on HSN starting May 9th!!! yay!  There will also be an awesome event on Facebook to celebrate this release and possibly some giveaways so make sure you join the group here.

Happy Crafting/Shopping!

Getting a Little Messy...

Hi!  Today I am sharing some projects I've made for a few challenges, yay!  I decided to get a little messy and pull out some mists, a stencil, some embossing paste, stamps and dies to create this...

I was inspired by the STAMPlorations CutPlorations link party, the STAMPlorations Stencil Sunday Challenge and the Virginia's View Challenge: Spray, Mist and Splatter.

To create this tag I started by cutting the tag, then I went over it with embossing paste and the Just Squares Stencil.  I then sprayed the background randomly with some of my favorite colors.  Plus I just love the sine of these mists!  The "awesome" was die cut from gold foil paper and layered with foam adhesive.  I finally stamped the "You Are" from the Sentiment Builders: Happy Stamp Set in white ink on black paper.

Thanks so much for stopping by and Happy Crafting!

Mixed Media with a New Set from The Alley Ways Stamps

Hello beautiful crafting friends!  I have a bit of sad news to share, The Alley Way Stamps is liquidating all of their sets and closing their doors.  I am so sad that it had to come to this, but I fully support Allison the creator, designer, and owner of the company during this difficult time.  I am beyond blessed to have been able to be a part of her amazing team, and will forever be grateful for her kind support, inspiration, and most of all her friendship.  She is a beautiful person inside and out, and someone I will always admire.

Please go support her one more time by making some awesome stamp purchases at a great price...

Now don't worry I'll end this on a happy note by sharing a Mixed Media journal page I've created with the new Wispy Wishes Stamp Set...

To create this page I started by embossing the dandelion seeds in white embossing powder.  I then just started layering the entire page with various Peerless watercolors.  I also used my heat tool in between colors to ensure they were drying before adding a new color.  I then stamped my sentiments with Versafine ink.  Finally I used a circle stencil and white chalk ink to add various sized "bubbles" to float along side of my seeds.

I am linking this up to the Simon Says Stamp Challenge: Anything Goes

Anything Goes with SweetStamps.com

Hello!  It is a new week and that means a new anything goes challenge is starting at SweetStamps.com, woo hoo!!!  This week I am sharing a bit of a satirical journal page that I've created with lots of SweetStamps.com goodies...

hehehe!  I was just in one of those moods when I started crafting, so I went with it! :)  To create this page I first started by covering my background with a mix of white gesso and Forest Shades ink spot and my finger.  After this dried I went over the background with the Circle Pavers Stencil and Forest ink again in various spots. Next came the embossing of the sentiment and girl.  For a fun play with colors I stamped some Creative Corner images like arrows in funky colors like Butterscotch and Paprika.  I then stamped some itty bitty dots in Montego Bay shades ink and splattered two of the corners with Dylusions ink spray in Crushed Grape.

Sometimes it's fun to just get messy, right?

Mixed Media with PinkFresh Studios and More!

Hello!  Happy Friday!!!!  Today I am sharing a fun Mixed Media piece I created here and on the Nani Ke Ola Blog!  I was really in the mood to just make something different, and this was exactly what I needed...

To create this project I started by tearing lots of little pieces of paper from the Pink Fresh Up in the Clouds Collection.  Then I started adhering them to my canvas with Modge Podge.  Once all of the pieces were glued down and dry I covered them with White Gesso with my finger.  I then started adding more colors of pinks, white, blues and yellows to the background with Gellatos and rubbing them in, again with my fingers.  To blend in with the golds of this collection I used the Prima Empress Gold Spray and left it to dry.  In the mean time I picked out some wood veneers by Ellie's Studio and Covered those in matching gellato colors.  Next I tore a vellum sheet from the Pretty Little Studio's Christmas Collection and used it to mat my photo.  Finally, I added more texture by going over my 7Dots Squares Mask with Translucent Embossing paste.  I left all of this dry over night and ta-da!!!

I was also inspired by the Sumer Days Challenge at The Mixed Media Monthly Challenge Blog, as I've used bright summer colors and a photo of my children last summer.

I am also adding this to the Stamplorations July Stencil Challenge.

I just love this fun little piece of art and can't wait to display it in my house.  Thanks so much for stopping by to day and Happy Crafting!

Beautiful Inside and Out... and a Sale

Hello, and Happy Monday!!!  Today I am sharing a pretty floral mixed media card here and on The Alley Way Stamps Blog...

Supplies Used:
Stamps: The Alley Way Stamps (Say It Don't Spray It, Petal Pushers, and Flower Show)
Ink: Versafine
Gellatos: Faber Castell
Gesso: Martha Stewart
Watercolor Cardstock: Ranger
Clear Sequins: V's Sweet Ideas and Pretty Pink Posh

Sometimes it just feels good to get messy, and that is just what I did with this card today.  I started by covering watercolored cardstock with White Gesso.  Once this dried I went over the background with several gellatos, sprayed with water and blended with my finger and a paper towel.  Next I covered a second piece of watercolor paper with gesso and applied blue, purple, and green gellatos, blended with my finger and allowed it to dry.  I then stamped the background panel with my sentiment several times, and stamped the floral images on the other cardstock.  I fussy cut the flowers and leaves and adhered them with a mix of foam adhesive and Tombow Mono Glue.  Finally I dripped some purple mist with a dropper along the top and let it run down.  The clear sequins were the icing on the cake.

I was also inspired by The Mixed Media Monthly Challenge: May Flowers

Wave Catchers Layout

Hello!  Today you will find this layout up on the SweetStamps.com Blog, and I had so much fun creating this!  I won't go into all of the details, as you can click over to their blog and see more there, but I will talk about how the stencils are what made the layout... Spread your Wings... Mixed Media

Hello!!!  And thank goodness it is Friday!  I am exhausted after this week of being sick and trying to get things done for Madeline's Second Fourth Birthday Party... whew!  Anywho, I took some time this week to get a little messy and play with the new accents released by Piccolo at SweetStamps.com... these accents are so fun to change and make into your own thing!  Take a peek at what I've created...

Supplies Used:
Art Stencil TULIP LATTICE 6x6 as66002
 Birds & Cages Accents LA130
 Bold Florals Accents LA131
 Enamel Embossing Powder Fluid
 Enamel EP CRANBERRY WINE
 Enamel Powder MERMAID TEARS
 Enamel Powder TURQUOISE LAGOON
 Enamel Powder MOSSY GLEN
Peerless Water Colors Bonus Pak Small
 Embossing Paste WHITE
 Glastique Finishing Glaze
  Distress Spray Stain BRUSHED PEWTER
ATC Mini Art Stencil VICTORIAN ROMANCE asm022
Swirly Doodle Butterflies Clear Stamp Set AF4602

I started by wetting my watercolored cardstock and then dropping in various colors from my peerless water color set.  Once this dried I used my ATC mini stencil and white embossing paste on various parts of the background.  Next I embossed the different accents in various enamel powders.  These enamel powders are so beautiful in person, they have a gorgeous shine and shimmer!  I then used the Glastique to adhere the accents to the dry background.  To finish it off I used a sentiment from the Doodle Butterflies Stamp Set.

I'm so happy with the way it turned out, the colors and everything about it just make me feel good.

Before I started working on this little peice of art I was inspired to do something with birds from The Monthly Mixed Media Challenge:Birds of a Feather, and I'm so happy I did!
I'm also entering this into the Simon Says Stamp Challenge: Anything Goes
and finally into the NBUS Challenge #4: These accents are all never been used stuff, yay!!!!

Singing In the Rain

Don't you just love that song?  I can't help but feel happy when I hear any part of this song, so when I stumbled upon my ruffled umbrella stamp from SweetStamps.com I knew it was perfect to get messy with.  Now I have very rarely done much with mixed media, but boy do I love the look of it, and while I was in such a good mood humming this tune I thought,  what the hey let's give it a go and see what we end up with...

I just love the results and I think I will frame it for Spring!  To create this little guy I started by covering Watercolor cardstock with Modge Podge and Torn strips of a tissue like paper from the DCWV Vintage Essentials Stack.  I then went over it with more Modge Podge and let dry.  Next came I applied gesso with my fingertip, which always dries quickly yay!  The third layer involves water coloring with my Peerless Watercolors.  I then stamped with a water resistant ink pad and hand wrote the lyrics with a Faber-Castell PITT Pen.  I colored my umbrella with Copics in a bright green to stand out, Faber Castell pens and a Memento Marker.  To finish I spritzed some Distress Spray Stain and added some "rain drops" with Glastique.

I had a blast getting messy and just playing around...

I am entering this into the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: No Rules
Marker Pop Challenge: Brights ( while my background is darker, I purposely colored my umbrella with bright greens )
and into the Stamping Sensations: Anything Goes Challenge

This also goes along with the SweetStamps.com Blog Challenge: Anything But a Card, hope to see you play along, all products are welcome!!!

Happy Crafting!
Lisa

Supplies Used:
Ruffled Umbrella 468
Peerless Water Colors Bonus Pak Small
 COPIC Sketch Marker
Distress Spray Stain BRUSHED PEWTER
Glastique GLOSS Finishing Glaze 2 oz.

 Enamel Embossing Powder Fluid

Don't Forget Your Old Stash!!!

Hello!  With CHA going on it is so hard for us crafters to think of anything other than all of the new, new, new glorious stuff about to hit stores, but don't forget about that beautiful old stash that once had that "new" feel to it too!  So today I am up on the Nani Ke Ola Blog sharing this layout I've created using the Mixed Media Collection by Heidi Swapp... psssttt... and guess what else?  It only took three products to create the whole thing!  woot woot!!!

When I first new I wanted to use some older stash, but was looking for some inspiration on which one to use I went to the Let's Capture Our Memories Color Spot Challenge and that's when I knew that Heidi Swapp's Mixed Media was the one!

And psssttt... did I also mention that this collection is currently on sale?! So if you don't already own it and love the products I've used here you can get it right now for a great price!

Forgive Imperfection Embrace it!

Hello!  So the other day I took time to just craft... to be inspired by a sketch and just go for it.  I had really been wanting to do a page for the Affirmations challenge at Challenge Yourself... but alas I ran out of time.  When I saw the sketch for Creative Scrappers I knew I just had to do it.  So here is what I created...

Supplies:
Patterned Paper: Dear Lizzy Polka dot Party
Mists: Mr. Huey's by SC and Color Shine by Heidi Swapp
Embellishments: Various Dear Lizzy Collections
Journal Stickers: Echo Park, Basic Grey, American Crafts

I have such a hard time doing layouts on myself... mainly because I forget to, and because I never see photos of me that I really like.  I think so many of us feel that way, but I've been doing more thinking about it, and you know what?  No kid has ever said they wish they had less photos of their mom... if anything you always want more.  I scrap to preserve memories for my family, and I am a part of those memories.  So I need to just suck it up Butter cup and get my own photos scrapped so they too will have something to cherish.

Thanks for stopping by, and here is a look at the sketch I based this on:

To create this layout I decided to do the opposite of what I normally do, and have my white space actually be white.  I then looked through the patterned paper I wanted to use and found similar colored spray mists to water paint with.  After I water painted on the background I wanted to mute the colors and rubbed Gesso over top of them with my finger.  Next I painted my title by hand before layering my papers and embellishments.

Thanks so much for stopping by today and hope you have a wonderful Thursday!!!

A Nani Ke Ola Post

Hello and Happy Friday!!!  This is my second post for the day, woot woot!  I am up on the Nani Ke Ola Blog today sharing this bright, summery layout before Fall really sets in. If you haven't had a chance to check out the Nani Ke Ola Store then I highly suggest it... she carries lots of smaller name brands, and is one of the main providers of the 7 Dots Studio Collections here in America.  For my layout I have used lots of various goodies from the store, check it out...

Supplies Used:
Patterned Paper: Color Hills (Lazy Moments Collection)
Accetate Tidbits: Cloud 9 by Chic Tags
Border Sticker: Glitz Designs (77 Collection)
Sentiment Sticker: Chic Tags Gold Label Stickers
Magicals: Under the Boardwalk Collection by Limor Weber Designs

Now I have to tell you that I am in LOVE with these new Magicals!  They are amazing, and so versatile!  I am hoping to share a video on different ways to use them along with some tips and tricks soon!  But I just have to let you know that I have mixed the teal with my embossing powder to create my popping arrow background, I've used them to water color my wood embellishments, and I have used them as a mist!  So you will def. see more of these little babies being used soon!

I hope you will take a moment to visit me on their blog and check out the Nani Ke Ola Scrapbooking Store!
